What to Expect

At U8, players are still in the early stages of development. The focus is on creating a love for the game while helping players become more comfortable with the ball. Sessions should be fun, engaging, and full of movement. Players at this age are learning how to interact with teammates and opponents, but they still need lots of freedom to explore the game.

Development Priorities

  • Develop confidence in 1v1 situations (dribbling, defending, and ball recovery).
  • Improve basic ball control, including dribbling with different surfaces of the foot.
  • Encourage basic decision-making: when to pass, shoot, or dribble.
  • Introduce the idea of playing with teammates in simple 2v1 or 3v3 games.
  • Support coordination, balance, and agility through playful movement.

How We Train

Training sessions are built around small-sided games, individual ball work, and fun challenges. Each activity should include a ball per player as often as possible. Avoid lines and waiting—keep kids moving and involved. Encourage effort, creativity, and trying new things without fear of mistakes. Let them play, explore, and fall in love with soccer.
